Website Design
YouTube-
www.YouTube.com
• Public or Membership
Anyone can view content hosted by YouTube, people who sign up for a membership however get the ability to upload their own content, favourite other content as well as being able to rate and comment on it
• Homepage
The homepage features the most recently top viewed featured videos. It’s conventional in terms of user navigation, having a vertical scrolling bar and clear simplistic yet efficient interface. The homepage, as with every other page on the site, features a search bar.
• Revenue
Youtube makes its profit from Google Adsense, since Google bought YouTube on the 9th of October 2006. The Ads can be shown as images besides videos or they can also be shown in video format for 30 seconds before a main video is shown. However, YouTube Revenues contribute to only 1% of Google’s total profits yet still managing to earn over $1 billion annually.
• Consistency of Design, Navigation and Page Download Speeds
YouTube’s layout is extremely simplistic. Apart from the YouTube logo there really is no other digital graphic design element featured on the website as everything on every page has a consistent, user friendly simple layout that is easy to navigate as it is far from over crowded. Because of the lack of graphic also this dramatically decreases the download time of the webpage which is essential as it allows computers to focus the majority of their CPU (Central Processing Unit) and RAM (Random Access Memory) on buffering the video itself rather than loading many images on the webpage.
Facebook-
www.facebook.com
• Public or Membership
To browse the Facebook website, you must sign up to become a member. You’re then able to create your own profile, from which you can post things that could be posted on any blog. You can also publish videos and pictures that are your own material.
• Homepage
The homepage features the most recent activity of your fellow Facebook ‘friends’. This can involve uploaded pictures, videos or recently published posts.

HTM or .HTML File Extension?
When you save an HTML file, you can use either the .htm or the .html file extension. There is no difference, it is entirely up to you.
You can write HTML scripts in notepad.exe and then go to File> Save as and then place '.html' or 'htm' at the end of the file name to create a web page.
